Derek’s Story

Derek is passionate about God, people and life in general! He believes that the most fulfilling and exciting life we can live is a Spirit-filled life of total surrender as a disciple of Christ. His exuberance and passion is contagious and is expressed through all that he does. Derek is known to be a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. He preaches a relevant message of victorious living through faith and obedience to Christ and the Word of God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Derek is not a novice when it comes to Church or ministry. As an ordained minister for more than 20 years, Derek has traveled to 25 nations of the world as a missionary, conference speaker, Bible teacher, and church consultant. Before returning to Orange County, he served as the Executive Pastor of one of Asia’s fastest growing churches, City Harvest Church, Singapore and was a staff for 16 1/2 years. There he experienced revival and explosive growth where he saw the Church grow from 1,500 to more than 32,000 in average weekly attendance, with 76% being first time decisions for Christ. He experienced the power of discipleship in sustaining a move of God.

Upon receiving the call of God to return to the US to plant a Church and upon receiving the blessing of the leadership, Derek, together with his wife, Susan, they co-founded City Harvest Church, Orange County in March 2013. Derek and Susan have 3 teenage children.
